# There are 3 main problems with today’s baby formula

There are way too many formulas to answer each question about each brand of formula. So let me give you some tips to see if you can figure out if your formula is a good one for your baby.

.

First, there are 3 main problems with today’s baby formula. (And others, but we will begin with these).

.

#1 The first ingredient in many formulas is corn syrup solids. The problem, it’s a glyphosate sprayed GMO product.

.

#2 Many formulas are made with soy oil. Soy again is a gmo glyphosate sprayed crop.

.

#3 The whey may come from cows that have been given the bovine growth hormone.

.

If I were buying baby formula, these are the questions I would ask myself:

.

1️⃣ Does the whey come from cows given the growth hormone? (It will be labeled on the package if they don’t use growth hormones and all organic do not have it).

.

2️⃣ Is there glyphosate sprayed gmo corn and gmo soy in the product? (Most likely yes unless non gmo or organic).

.

3️⃣ Were the cows given gmo feed? (Most likely yes, unless organic).

.

4️⃣ Is corn syrup or corn solids the first ingredient?

.

5️⃣Does it have a prebiotic in it?

.

6️⃣What oil is being used? (Vegetable oil would be last on my list).

.

There is a lot of debate about the hexane used to derive the DHA and ARA. Unfortunately even the organic formulas use hexane to form these oils. The only formula that doesn’t is the Baby’s Only formula. But that is actually a toddler formula.

.

And yes, we all are aware that breastfeeding is by far the best choice. But we are all also aware that many need to use formula for all different reasons.

.

And organic formula is by far the best option. But I also understand as a young new mom, finances are so tight. So my three suggestions:

1. Don’t be paying the same price for some non organic formula if you could be buying an organic version for the same price.

2. Of you can’t afford organic, but have a Kroger store near by, use their Simple Truth Brand.

3. If you don’t have that option at least choose the non gmo option!
