The question I get asked daily is... What laundry soap do I use?

What’s wrong with laundry soap❓Doesn’t the water just wash all the soap off of the clothes❓
ANSWER: nope! These chemicals are designed to stick on to your clothes so that your clothes remain smelling good. As your clothes lose their fresh scent as you wear them throughout the day, where did those scent chemicals go❓Yep, they rubbed onto your skin.
.
👉🏻Do you know what got people really wondering about their detergents❓That Tide Pod challenge. You remember when kids and teenagers were chewing the Tide pods? Well, Tide had to come out and say these laundry products contain “highly concentrated, toxic detergent.” 👎🏻👎🏻
.
So what’s so bad with laundry detergent? The main culprits are:
1. The artificial dyes
2. The phthalates in the fragrance (see previous post on all purpose cleaners)
3. Diethylene Glycol (DEG)
4. 1,4-dioxane
.
PICTURE #1 - these are 👎🏻 due to having some of the ingredients above and more.
.
1,4-dioxane - According to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, exposure to this compound can cause eye and nose irritation, kidney problems, and possible long-term lung damage.
.
According to the EPA “Acute (short-term) inhalation exposure to high levels of 1,4-dioxane has caused vertigo, drowsiness, headache, anorexia, and irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, and lungs in humans…EPA has classified 1,4-dioxane as a Group B2, probable human carcinogen.”
.
Tide Free and Gentle- has Diethylene Glycol (DEG). This ingredient is banned for some uses in the EU. The Environmental Working Group has linked it to respiratory and neurological effects. It also has ethanolamine in it which is linked to depression (CDC). And it has sodium borate in it which has been linked to endocrine and reproductive issues (EWG).

So the ANSWER to the daily question 😀: We rotate between Doterra laundry soap, Norwex, and Baking Soda with the oils.
