Supplements- Maca root and Ashwagandha have become trendy. Do you know what they are, their health benefits, or what to look for when buying them❓
👉🏻As with all supplements, buy a brand with no extra fillers. Both of these ONLY ingredient should be maca root or the ashwagandha. And I prefer these come from their native land (which also means it will most likely be organic👏🏻).
Maca root is a cruciferous vegetables native to the Andes of Peru. It is the root that is usually grounded into powder form and eaten. It is considered an adaptogen.
1️⃣Maca root boosts levels of antioxidants in the body like glutathione. It also contains a lot of nutrients:
Vitamin C (for the immune system)
Iron(for blood health)
Copper (forms red blood cells)
Potassium (for maintaining blood pressure)
And 8 essential amino acids (a)
2️⃣Maca root can help with energy levels. A 12 week study showed people taking 3 grams of Maca daily led to better energy. (b)
3️⃣In 2015, Maca root was shown to help lower depression in menopausal women (c).
4️⃣In 2011, two animal studies found that Maca improves the memory impairment in mice (d).

Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb grown mainly in India that has been used for more than 2500 years.
1️⃣A study showed that menopausal women who took ashwagandha noted a SIGNIFICANT reduction in symptoms like hot flashes, anxiety and mood. (a)
2️⃣BPA is routinely used in the production of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins (food containers, water bottles, can linings, etc). Ashwagandha SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the oxidative stress due to BPA and thereby can help with cognitive dysfunction. (b)
