Unveiling the Power of Mouth Wash

Posted by Karalynne Call on

Formulated with dentist Dr. Michelle Jorgensen, this mouth wash does it all. It's truly the first of its kind, made with natural ingredients and nothing artificial. What makes it better? Here’s a quick snapshot to help set the stage:

  • No fluoride. Great alternative for those who prefer to avoid fluoride. Keep reading to learn what ingredient we use instead!

  • No alcohol. Others have a high alcohol content which isn't ideal. More on this to come!
  • Avoids issues of prescription rinses. This is an interesting one with lots to unpack. More on it below!

Keep reading for a deeper look at each of these reasons, and a breakdown that showcases the purpose of each ingredient and what it can do for your smile.

No Fluoride

Why add something that we never had in our teeth to begin with? Yes, fluoride can harden teeth, but it is also considered to be a neurotoxin. Definitely not an ingredient we were comfortable including in any of our dental care products.

Instead, our mouth wash contains hydroxyapatite, which is a naturally occurring mineral that can help:

  • strengthen teeth
  • build teeth
  • and remineralize teeth

This powerhouse ingredient is the star of our tooth powder, breath spray, and our mouth wash. Using hydroxyapatite as an alternative to fluoride has been shown to benefit the teeth. We’re so excited to be part of the hydroxyapatite movement!

No Alcohol

Popular mouth washes are 60-75% alcohol. While alcohol is an antiseptic that kills bad bacteria, it can also kill all your good bacteria. This can lead to uncomfortable results like:

  • Dry mouth
  • Bad breath
  • An increase in bad bacteria

This gets you stuck in a loop where you have to continue rinsing with the alcohol-based mouth wash to keep these unwanted results at bay. Plus, that post-rinse burn is usually caused by the crazy amounts of alcohol in most mouth washes.

On the other hand, our mouth wash preserves your good bacteria and kills the bad, helping keep your mouth microbiome nice and balanced. It can help you avoid issues like dry mouth and bad breath that occur when there’s an increase of bad bacteria and a decrease of good bacteria. And as an added bonus, no post-rinse burn!

Avoiding the Issues of Prescription Rinses

Prescription mouth rinses often contain an ingredient called chlorhexidine. It's a very strong antimicrobial, but it is considered toxic to all the cells in your mouth, including the healthy ones.

Unlike chlorhexidine, our formula kills bad bacteria and leaves the good unharmed. This can help mouths heal, making our mouth wash a great option for using after mouth surgeries or if you're prone to mouth sores.

Harnessing the Power of Colloidal Silver

We’re big fans of colloidal silver and all its healing benefits. That’s why we use it in our body lotion, hyaluronic acid, and even on its own. By adding it to our mouth wash formula, it helps amp up the formula's healing properties even more by :

  • Helping to kill the bad bacteria while preserving the good.
  • Helping fight gum inflammation.
  • Helping to protect the teeth by combining with hydroxyapatite. This duo coats the teeth, allowing nourishing minerals to access the tooth, but preventing acid from getting through.

Preventing Cavities with Xylitol

It's important to note that high amounts of xylitol can be a red flag, but in small quantities, like our mouth wash, it's a powerful ingredient. It can help prevent bacteria from metabolizing which prevents it from turning into cavities.

Not only does xylitol help stop cavities in its tracks, but it adds a little bit of sweetness, making this mouth wash kid-approved! That, plus no burn from not containing any alcohol, makes encouraging your kids to rinse that much easier.

Healing Benefits from Nature’s Herbs

Each herb included in our mouth wash formula has a specific purpose and healing property. We believe that nature provides exactly what we need to heal, and that belief guides how we formulate each and every one of our products. It's truly amazing what nature can do for our bodies!

  • Plantain Leaf helps heal and prevent mouth sores and wounds, while helping to relieve inflammation.

  • Marshmallow Root binds to the gum tissue to help protect from damage and it also helps stimulate saliva to reduce mouth dryness and bad breath.

  • Calendula can encourage gum health and bone growth and can reduce inflammation.

  • Peppermint Essential Oil acts as an antiseptic that can help freshen breath.

  • Lavender Essential Oil has antimicrobial properties which can help fight candida (aka fungal infection) and inflammation. It can also help heal sores.
